The main aim of the NDIS for Australians with disabilities is to improve their everyday life. If you have a disability, achieving independence while still receiving support can be a challenge. You can get help through the NDIS program known as Supported Independent Living (SIL), but you don’t have to give up your freedom.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is intended to provide permanent disability individuals with support and housing. The funding makes it possible for them to exist independently. Participants in this program have access to specialised SIL accommodation arrangements and receive individualised assistance.
Who Is Eligible for SIL Funding?
- Being aged between 18 and 65 years old
- Having a permanent and significant disability
- Provide evidence that you are unable to live without 24/7 supports
- Wanting help to take part in social and community activities
- Have an approved NDIS plan that includes SIL funding
